Baden-Württemberg: Sap juices flow in Lake Constance: criminal complaint

Kressbronn (dpa / lsw) - Because they are said to have caused a sewage fungus in Lake Constance, the police are investigating two managers of a farm in the Kressbronn area (Lake Constance district). The two men would face criminal charges for water pollution, it said in a Tuesday statement. According to the information, water-polluting substances escaped from a defective silo. The suspects are said not to have disposed of and collected them properly, so that the so-called silage leachate reached Lake Constance via a pond and a rainwater drainage system over a long period of time. The water police noticed the contamination at the beginning of the year. Due to countermeasures, the wastewater fungus receded. According to the police, there are no longer any adverse effects on the environment.

Like liquid manure or manure, silage leachate can impair and endanger the water quality.
