Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - After the explosion in a residential building in Stuttgart, investigators and fire experts from the State Criminal Police Office are looking for clues as to the cause of the accident. A police spokeswoman said on Tuesday. One person died in the incident. The body was still not identified with certainty. This is probably an 85-year-old woman who was missing immediately after the explosion on Monday. There may also be an autopsy on the body. Among other things, it could be clarified whether the person died immediately or was still alive after the accident.

In addition to the police, around 15 firefighters were also on site on Tuesday. According to a fire department spokesman, they had to extinguish embers, among other things. Parts of the building that were in acute danger of collapsing had already been demolished on Monday evening.

According to the information, the police continue to assume that an accident was the cause of the explosion. So far there is no evidence of a crime. Four residents of the house were able to leave the building before it collapsed.
