Schorndorf (dpa / lsw) - The wrestlers of the ASV Schorndorf go into the final of the German team championship with confidence. "We see good chances. We want to become champions now," said board member and trainer Sedat Sevsay of the German Press Agency before the first match at ASV Mainz 88 on Saturday (7:30 p.m.). "Experience speaks more for Mainz," said Sevsay. "But our squad is very broad and strong at the top."
Schorndorfer won their only championship title so far in 1975 - also in the final against Mainz. In this year's playoffs, the Swabians, whose team also includes former European Championship bronze medalist Jello Krahmer, first defeated six-time champion KSV Köllerbach and then surprisingly defeated defending champion Wacker Burghausen. "Now we want to take the final steps and take revenge for the semi-final loss to Mainz last season," said Sevsay. The rematch will take place in Stuttgart on February 11.
