Baden-Württemberg: Ski season on Feldberg starts: 2000 season tickets sold

Todtnau (dpa / lsw) - After being postponed twice, the ski season in the large Feldberg winter sports area now starts on Friday. "Even if the snow cover is not as thick as we would like, we are doing everything we can to start the season on Friday," said the managing director of Feldbergbahnen, Julian Probst, in Todtnau (Lörrach district).

Originally, the season in Germany's largest ski area north of the Alps was supposed to start at the beginning of December. However, the start date was postponed twice due to lack of snow. Snow cannons were also used to prepare the slopes, a spokeswoman said on Thursday.

Around 2,000 season tickets were sold for this year's ski season, the spokeswoman said. Probst was confident that skiers would accept the railways' new fare system.

Customers have to be prepared for rising prices: the minimum price for a standard day ticket is 39 euros - but it gets more expensive when the skiing weather is good, on Sundays and public holidays and during the holidays. The railways had not committed themselves to an upper price limit. The day ticket cost 43 euros in the previous season.
