Baden-Württemberg: So far no simplified approval for agri-photovoltaics

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Farmers who want to set up photovoltaic systems over their fields have not yet benefited from the possibility of a simplified approval process in the south-west. According to a spokeswoman for the Ministry of the Environment in Stuttgart, agri-photovoltaics can generally be classified as a privileged outdoor construction project. So far, however, not a single facility in the country has been approved using this simplified procedure because the requirements for this classification are difficult to meet. The "relatively new technology" agri-photovoltaics was not included in such older laws.

In order to achieve the goals for climate protection, the country actually wants to push ahead with the expansion of photovoltaics on roofs and surfaces - also on agricultural fields. So far, according to the Ministry of the Environment, there are only three farms in the southwest with agri-photovoltaics.

In a state research project with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, five test systems in Kressbronn (Ravensburg district), in Ravensburg, near Weinsberg (Heilbronn district), in Karlsruhe and Oberkirch (Ortenau district) are to be observed by 2024 to see how the Power generation works and how the systems affect fruit growing.
