Karlsruhe (dpa/lsw) - From the point of view of the SPD, investigators against the so-called Reich citizens in Baden-Württemberg must above all keep an eye on the scene's attempts to recruit police officers or soldiers, for example. A watchful eye must be kept on recruitment attempts by enemies of the constitution in security agencies, said SPD constitutional protection expert Boris Weirauch on Wednesday in Stuttgart. "If people who are trained to use weapons slip into anti-constitutional milieus, it is an immediate threat to public security in our country. There can be no mercy," he said after the "Reich Citizens" raid.
During the searches, several people were also arrested in Baden-Württemberg early on Wednesday morning. According to the Federal Prosecutor's Office, the southwest was a focus of the searches. According to the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the number of "Reich citizens" and "self-administrators" recorded in Baden-Württemberg is around 3,800.
