Baden-Württemberg: Sponsors are gone: "Colours" is postponed again

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - The 5th "Colours International Dance Festival" planned for next year in Stuttgart will be postponed again and will now only take place in 2025. While in 2021 it was still the corona pandemic that delayed the program by a year until last summer, the energy crisis with its economic consequences is now leaving deep scars. "Some indispensable sponsors have withdrawn," said the organizers of the festival on Tuesday. "And Colors now needs more time to reposition itself."

Founded in 2015, the festival was held biennially - i.e. every two years - until 2019. The 2021 performances were postponed to the summer due to the pandemic and took place. "Until recently, everyone responsible assumed that the fifth edition would take place again regularly in 2023," said the dance company Gauthier Dance, led by Canadian choreographer Eric Gauthier. "In the meantime it has become clear to us that unfortunately this will not be possible." The idea of postponing just one year to 2024 was discarded. "In the summers of even-numbered years, culture competes with major football events," it said.

The Colors festival usually features many productions from around the world, including premieres and premieres. There are workshops and other activities in the city center to watch and participate in.
