Neuenburg am Rhein (dpa / lsw) - The state garden show in Neuenburg am Rhein comes to an end on Monday (today). The motto of the event is "City-Country-Fluid: Because it brings us together". The upcoming Baden-Württemberg State Horticultural Show is planned for 2024 in Wangen im Allgäu.

The goal of reconnecting Neuchâtel and the Rhine after years of separation has been achieved, a spokeswoman said on request. The state horticultural show therefore remains a permanent gain for the city in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district.

The 164-day garden festival attracted many visitors from Germany as well as from France and Switzerland, it said. Visitor numbers are to be announced this Wednesday.

For the show, Rhine gardens were laid out on an area of around 19 hectares, giving visitors direct access to the river. Around 11.8 million euros were invested in the 29th State Garden Show.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Baden-Württemberg was the first federal state to start holding state garden shows in 1980. These and smaller garden shows have already been booked until 2036.
