Baden-Württemberg: State tightens rules for compensation in the event of loss of service

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Ministry of Health has tightened the rules for compensation for loss of earnings due to corona. In the future, only people who can prove three corona vaccinations or two vaccinations plus one infection will receive compensation. The background to this is the recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission for a third vaccination, the Ministry of Health in Stuttgart announced on Friday. So far, two vaccinations have been sufficient.

Anyone who has to be isolated due to a corona infection and thus has a loss of earnings usually receives compensation. This is applied for by the employer from the state. Self-employed persons submit their application themselves.

"Anyone who wants compensation from taxpayers' money at the expense of the general public should also do their - small - part of solidarity and get vaccinated," Health Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) justified the new regulation. There are still exceptions for people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

So far, around 343,000 applications for compensation for loss of earnings due to quarantine have been made in the southwest and around 258 million euros have been paid out.
