Baden-Württemberg: Strobl gets backing from media lawyer Schertz

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - One of the most well-known media lawyers in Germany has now dealt with the affair surrounding Interior Minister Thomas Strobl and a letter he pierced from a lawyer. The Ministry of the Interior announced on Tuesday that legal expertise had been obtained from Christian Schertz. Schertz, who holds an honorary professorship for press, personality and media law at the Technical University of Dresden, prepared an expert opinion. "He illuminates the process holistically and in all its facets." Schertz was supposed to present his results on Tuesday - exactly on the day when the SPD and FDP want to set up a committee of inquiry against Strobl in their parliamentary group meetings.

The CDU politician and deputy head of government is under massive pressure because he forwarded a letter from a high-ranking police officer's lawyer to a journalist. The official is being investigated for sexual harassment and has been suspended from work. The opposition accuses Strobl of having broken several laws by passing on the letter. After Strobl admitted that the letter had been passed on at the beginning of May, the public prosecutor's office initiated investigations into suspected illegal disclosure of court hearings.
