Baden-Württemberg: survey: people are very worried about their financial situation

Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - People in Baden-Württemberg are currently much more worried about their financial situation than about the corona pandemic, for example. This was the result of the "Baden-Württemberg Report" on behalf of a merger of private radio stations in the state, as a spokesman announced on Wednesday in Mannheim.

The approximately 1,000 respondents named the rising cost of living (85 percent), inflation (84 percent) and energy supply (81 percent) as the three biggest concerns. The corona pandemic, on the other hand, was only one of the greatest concerns for just under every third person (26 percent).

The rising energy prices have therefore already reached many people in the southwest. Almost a quarter of those surveyed (24 percent) stated that they were financially overwhelmed by the energy costs. This was more likely to be the case for 27 percent. This also affects people's expectations for the future. A vast majority of those surveyed expect the economic situation to be worse than last year. 30 percent of those surveyed assume that they will be in a much worse position in the future. Around 48 percent expect a slightly worse private household situation.

Savings should therefore be made above all when visiting restaurants and cafés (74 percent). The people in Baden-Württemberg also want to spend less money on clothing (64 percent) and leisure activities (58 percent) in the future. People want to save the least in personal hygiene (23 percent) and at the pump (21 percent).
