Baden-Württemberg: Survey: returning to nuclear power is an option for many

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - According to a recent survey, 57 percent of Baden-Württembergers can imagine returning to nuclear power. On the other hand, 31 percent of people answered a corresponding question with "No", the remaining 12 percent responded with the answer "Don't know". This was reported by Privat.Radio on Tuesday as the client of the "Baden-Württemberg Report" survey. Privat.Radio is an association of private radio stations in the country.

In the energy crisis triggered by the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, the federal government decided last year to allow the three remaining nuclear power plants to continue operating until April 15, 2023. These are the nuclear power plants Isar 2, Neckarwestheim 2 and Emsland. After that, the use of nuclear power should be over in Germany.

The survey, which is representative according to Privat.Radio, also showed that among the men surveyed, the proportion of those surveyed who would return to work was as high as 66 percent. For women, almost half (49 percent) was achieved. In the future, many younger people will also rely on nuclear power as a possible energy source, according to a statement.
