Baden-Württemberg: Telephone fraud: Seniors hand over 10,000 euros of jewelry

Esslingen (dpa / lsw) - A senior couple handed over jewelry worth around 10,000 euros to an unknown person after a telephone scam. As the police announced on Wednesday, the two were called on Tuesday by an alleged police officer from Stuttgart. He told the seniors their daughter had caused a fatal traffic accident. To save them from jail, they would have to post a large sum of money as bail. The couple had no cash at home in Esslingen and then gave jewelry to an unknown collector. A short time later they noticed the fraud themselves and called the police.
