Offenburg (dpa / lsw) - On the way to Italy, police officers stopped a man and his son near Offenburg. The federal police assume that the 42-year-old wanted to go abroad with the boy without permission, a spokesman said on Tuesday. The man was taken into custody on suspicion of assaulting law enforcement officers and the risk of absconding. Officials had found him in a long-distance coach on Sunday during a check in a parking lot on Autobahn 5.
With him was his eleven-year-old son, who had been illegally taken from his mother last year. During the control, the father resisted, as a result of which a police officer was slightly injured. After consultation with the North Rhine-Westphalian police, the boy was taken into the care of the youth welfare office, which was supposed to bring him back to his mother.
