Baden-Württemberg: The number of corona patients in clinics continues to fall

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The clinics in Baden-Württemberg are taking care of fewer and fewer patients infected with the corona virus. The number of occupied beds in intensive care units in the country fell from 79 to 57 within a week, the state health department announced on Thursday. 725 corona patients are treated in the normal wards, 100 fewer than a week earlier. The office does not distinguish whether a person is being treated for or with Covid-19.

The nationwide seven-day incidence was 159.2, down slightly from the previous week (165.4). The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants had a corona infection detected in the past seven days. However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there has been a high number of unrecorded cases - mainly because by far not all infected people do a PCR test. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

A total of 4,412,756 corona infections have been confirmed in Baden-Württemberg since the outbreak of the pandemic. 17,042 people have died from or related to coronavirus.
