Baden-Württemberg: The number of corona patients in normal wards continues to fall

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The corona situation in the clinics in the southwest continues to ease. According to the State Health Office, 825 people with Covid-19 were last treated in normal wards on Thursday. That was 125 fewer than a week earlier. The office does not differentiate whether a person is being treated for or with an infection. There were 79 people in the intensive care units, almost as many patients as a week ago (76).

The nationwide seven-day incidence was 165.4, down from 181.2 on Thursday last week. It indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected with the corona virus in the past seven days. However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there has been a high number of unrecorded cases - mainly because by far not all infected people do a PCR test. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

According to the information, a total of 4,393,776 corona infections have been confirmed in Baden-Württemberg since the outbreak of the pandemic. 16,978 people have died from or related to coronavirus. A good three quarters of the people in the southwest have been vaccinated at least once. About two-thirds would also have received booster shots.
