Baden-Württemberg: The state government is meeting abroad: It's about the budget and solar

As an exception, the Greens and the CDU meet in the monastery. There are historical reasons for this. The budget and the expansion of solar energy are currently on the agenda. Especially with the latter, there has recently been a major back and forth.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The state government of Greens and CDU will not meet on Tuesday as usual in Stuttgart, but in Tübingen. The Bebenhausen monastery on the outskirts of the university town was once the seat of the state parliament - but only for Württemberg-Hohenzollern. With the founding of Baden-Württemberg in May 1952, it was over and the parliamentarians met in Stuttgart. To commemorate this episode more than 70 years ago, the cabinet of Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) meets in the former Cistercian abbey.

In terms of content, the government wants to deal with the key points of the double budget 2023/2024, among other things. Last week, the leaders of the Greens and the CDU agreed in principle. Despite the gratifying tax estimate, the coalition wants to remain cautious. Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz (Greens) fears that the Ukraine war and the ongoing pandemic will impact the economy and tax revenue. Another topic will be the government's strategy for the expansion of solar systems on agricultural land. Agriculture Minister Peter Hauk (CDU) had recently blocked the conversion of such areas too much.
