Baden-Württemberg: Three alleged perpetrators after the Mannheim knife attack in custody

Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - A good two weeks after a life-threatening knife attack on a 23-year-old in Mannheim, the three alleged perpetrators are in custody. As announced by the public prosecutor and the police on Tuesday, the men between the ages of 22 and 29 are accused of attempted manslaughter in combination with dangerous bodily harm.

They are said to have attacked the 23-year-old together in a restaurant on May 8 after a dispute for "void reasons" and fatally injured him with at least five knife wounds. The victim is now out of danger after an emergency operation.

The alleged perpetrators only let go of their victim when a passer-by intervened. Then they fled. The investigators identified the suspects and arrested them on Monday in Stuttgart, Brühl and Ludwigshafen. They are behind bars because of the risk of escape and blackout. The investigations are ongoing.
