Baden-Württemberg: Tourism in the southwest is recovering from the corona pandemic

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Tourism in Baden-Württemberg has recovered significantly in the current year. In the months from January to September fewer guests stayed in the southwest than before the corona pandemic in 2019, but significantly more than in the past two years, as the State Statistical Office announced on Monday.

According to the information, around 40 million overnight stays were reported from January to September. That's about four million fewer overnight stays than in 2019, but 14.4 million more than in the same period last year.

According to the State Statistical Office, in a state-wide comparison, the Stuttgart region in particular was able to increase compared to the previous year. The region recorded 93.9 percent more overnight stays than in January to September 2021, but still 20.7 percent fewer than in 2019. The Württembergisches Allgäu-Oberschwaben region is the only travel area in the southwest where more guests stayed overnight in the first nine months than before the 2019 corona pandemic.
