Benningen (dpa / lsw) - A tractor fell into the Neckar during mowing work in Benningen (Ludwigsburg district). The vehicle remained on the side half in the river in the area of the Marbach lock, as the police announced on Monday evening. The driver was able to save himself unharmed on land. The estimated property damage is reported to be 10,000 euros.
According to the police, a heavy-duty crane was also used during the rescue. The Benningen and Marbach fire brigades were involved with six vehicles, a boat and 21 emergency services. The Marbach Waterways and Shipping Authority was also on duty with two representatives.
Major pollution of the water could be prevented by an oil barrier, it was said. Ships were able to slowly pass the scene of the accident, only the bike path was blocked.
