Baden-Württemberg: Train providers in the southwest: Less busy without a 9-euro ticket

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - On the first weekend after the 9-euro ticket expired, the Baden-Württemberg local transport provider SWEG had a lower capacity utilization. "It's less busy than last weekend," said a spokeswoman for Südwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs-GmbH (SWEG) on request on Sunday. The transport company, which claims to be 95 percent state-owned, serves several routes in the south-west, including in the greater Stuttgart area.

"We are recording a normal number of passengers," reported a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn in Berlin, looking to the south-west.

The DB Regio Baden-Württemberg announced on Sunday via Twitter that there were disabilities on a route in the Black Forest. Because of a repair to a level crossing in Freiburg-Littenweiler, there were delays and partial failures.

In June, July and August, the 9-euro tickets enabled travel on buses and trains of local public transport throughout Germany for one month. The special campaign to relieve passengers due to increased energy costs expired last Wednesday. The federal government financed the campaign with 2.5 billion euros to compensate for loss of income from transport providers.
