Baden-Württemberg: Two cyclists are beaten and insulted

Weil im Schönbuch (dpa/lsw) - Two cyclists aged 28 and 30 were insulted and racially insulted by four men in Weil im Schönbuch (Böblingen district). As the police announced on Friday, a 57-year-old suspect hit the 28-year-old in the face and injured him slightly. The 57-year-old then pulled out a jackknife and held it to the 28-year-old's neck. A witness saw one of the perpetrators hide the jackknife after Thursday night's incident. He also observed how a suspect damaged an abandoned bicycle with several kicks and then threw it around.

After the two victims left the scene, the 30-year-old briefed his wife, who called the police. The officers found three suspects, the fourth in the group had already left, according to the police. The trio have been arrested. The police officers were insulted by the perpetrators. One suspect also suffered minor injuries during the arrest.

"A xenophobic background cannot be ruled out as a possible motive for the attackers," says the police report.
