Baden-Württemberg: Veterinary Office lets injured cow kill

Pforzheim (dpa / lsw) - A suspected neglected injured cow in the Enzkreis district was killed on behalf of the authorities. The district's veterinary office had arranged this, said a spokeswoman for the district office in Pforzheim on Thursday. The animal protection organization Peta had reported that the cow had been left to her own devices in the midst of her excrement for about three weeks, mostly without care. According to the information, recordings show the animal with wounds on its front legs, in which fly larvae were spreading. The association then switched on the office.

Peta reportedly filed a criminal complaint against the farmer with the Karlsruhe public prosecutor for violating the Animal Welfare Act. There was initially no one available for questions. The police did not know about the case. The Enzkreis gave no details.
