Baden-Württemberg: VfB women with great ambitions - and well-known sponsors

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - A week and a half before the start of its women's soccer team in the Oberliga, VfB Stuttgart formulated ambitious goals and is also relying on the support of well-known sponsors. "If we do something, then we do it right," said CEO Alexander Wehrle. "That's why it's very clear that we want to get into the Bundesliga with the first team - and we have to create the conditions for that bit by bit."

According to Wehrle, the budget is in the six-digit range. On Wednesday, VfB presented the insurance company Allianz and the chocolate manufacturer Ritter Sport as jersey sponsors.

The Stuttgart women's team should have reached the professional level, i.e. at least the 2nd division, by the 2025/2026 season at the latest. In the coming season, the Swabians, who previously played for VfB Obertürkheim and are now playing for VfB Stuttgart, will start in the Oberliga and have set themselves the goal of promotion. Their first league game is on September 4th (2.30 p.m.) against TSV Crailsheim.
