Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The railway company SWEG is back to work stoppages. The union of German locomotive drivers (GDL) called again at short notice for a strike in train traffic at the Südwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs-GmbH (SWEG) and at the group subsidiary SWEG Bahn Stuttgart GmbH, the company announced on Wednesday. It started at 1:30 a.m. that night. The end of the strike has not yet been announced.
The SWEG warned: "It is possible for trains to stop and be canceled on the route." The background is a collective bargaining conflict in which the GDL, according to its own statements, would like to negotiate a collective agreement for the more than 500 railway workers not only for the former Abellio Rail Baden-Württemberg (today SBS), but for the entire SWEG group. The group has a total of 1800 employees.
The SWEG rejects this and does not want to take over the SBS permanently. The Abellio daughter got into financial difficulties at the end of 2021. The company then took over the state-owned SWEG for an initial period of two years.
