Baden-Württemberg: Wild Wings get ski jumping world champions as managing directors

Villingen-Schwenningen (dpa/lsw) - The DEL-Club Schwenninger Wild Wings has engaged the former ski jumping world champion Alexander Herr as the new commercial manager. In addition to Stefan Wagner, who will take over the sporting management as planned, he is the second managing director of the Black Forest, said the ninth table of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) on Tuesday. At the beginning of December, Wagner succeeded the former managing director Christoph Sandner, from whom the club had separated.

The 44-year-old gentleman, who grew up in Schonach in the Black Forest, became team world champion in the large hill jumping event in Lahti, Finland, in 2001. At that time, the top athletes Sven Hannawald and Martin Schmitt were also part of the team. After his sporting career, Herr worked in the private sector. "Alexander Herr is a regional personality. He has roots and is well known in the Black Forest-Baar district. It's good that he knows the region and also has a network here," said Schwenningen's partner Thomas Burger.

Herr explained that he tried very hard to get the position with the Wild Wings. "On the one hand, the club has a lot of tradition, on the other hand it's very professional. This mix is what makes it so appealing for me," he explained.
