Baden-Württemberg: Würth on mobile work: "My office is where I am"

Mobile work? No problem for Reinhold Würth. The 87-year-old only needs a voice recorder. Information must then be distributed in writing - by e-mail or letter.

Künzelsau (dpa/lsw) - The entrepreneur Reinhold Würth has not only been an advocate of mobile work since the corona pandemic. "I've always traveled a lot for work," Würth told the German Press Agency. "My office was my voice recorder." And since the electronic transmission of dictations has worked so wonderfully, Würth only needs his office at the headquarters in Künzelsau (Hohenlohe district) very rarely. "I have my office where I am."

If he has to distribute information, he loves the written form, said Würth. Therefore, his dictations would be written down and then sent by e-mail or by post. "What is not in the files is not in the world," said Würth. He recognized this early in his career when employees approached him and claimed that he had promised them this or that - without being able to remember it. "If an employee comes to me today and shows me the letter that says he should get a new car, then he gets a new car."

In general, work for him "was always more of a hobby than a duty". He rarely did not work due to illness." Even during his corona infection, he was not completely absent, said Würth. "It was a three-day, cruel cold." Overall, however, the course was mild. Probably also because he had been vaccinated several times "I had enough handkerchiefs," said Würth.

The Würth Group, known for its screws, achieved sales of around 17.1 billion euros and an operating result before taxes of around 1.3 billion euros in 2021. The group employs more than 83,000 people worldwide. At the age of 14, Reinhold Würth began an apprenticeship in his father's company, which was still small at the time, before taking over the business after his death in 1954 at the age of 19. Today he is Chairman of the Foundation's Supervisory Board. The billionaire is one of the richest Germans.
