Basque Country: The Xaltaian Best Music Festival returns to Ciboure from June 17-19, 2009.

Last year, 2000 spectators responded to the traditional cry of fishermen, when anchovies and sardines wriggled on top of the ocean. This was a sign of good fishing. "Xaltaian!" "Xaltaian!" was the first edition of the music festival that combined rock, folk, variety, and percussion. It was held in Marinela and at the Place du Fronton rallying point.

This year, good luck! The 2nd edition of Xaltaian Best will bring together all music lovers from Ciboure, the surrounding areas, and on the village square.

"Xaltaian Best" is a special event for Cibourians of all ages. To meet all of the residents, the festival is free and will begin at Place Koxe-Arbisa. Emilie Dutoya (assistant in charge of culture), rejoices that 80-year-old grannies enjoyed the concerts last year at Marinela." The municipal team selected ten groups of musicians and set up a project called "Xaltaian Best 2022", which provided professional sound for 15,000 euros over three days.

Among the locals: Claddagh, four multi-instrumentalist and singer friends, trained at the Estudiantina de Ciboure before forming a group in 2020 around acoustic music, with Celtic accents. Fabien Murillo, one of the musicians, says, "By virtue of traveling to Ireland we wanted to share music." They added scores and instruments as they traveled and discovered new places (bouzoukis, flutes, etc.). "To please themselves and the public."

Pauline and Juliette, folk-music of the globe, are the famous Pauline (folk music of the world), Les Castillons, their tribute album to Pink Floyd, the folks of Aguxtin Labat and Julien Labat. The rock of Murgi, and the rap of Odei completes the local poster.

This year's organizers sought out formations from other countries for the festival: Oasix Band Landes brass and Girondins of Bal Chaloupe.
