Bavaria: 1860 Munich celebrates late in Verl: Joker Skenderovic stabs

Munich (dpa/lby) - A headed goal by Meris Skenderovic in added time gave TSV 1860 Munich the next win and the lead in the 3rd soccer league. The “Lions” won 1-0 (0-0) at SC Verl on Saturday and celebrated their fourth win in four games.

Attacker Skenderovic, who was substituted on by Michael Köllner in the middle of the second half, stabbed as a joker. The 24-year-old headed a cross from Christopher Lannert powerfully into the goal, triggering huge cheers from his coach, his teammates and the 650 or so 1860 supporters who had traveled with him.

"I'm overjoyed that it finally worked out. I've been close in the last few weeks," said the goalscorer at Magentasport: "As of now, everything is going great. We want to continue like this."

With twelve points, the Munich team lead the table, two points ahead of FC Ingolstadt and 1. FC Saarbrücken, who drew in the top game with a goalless draw. Before the late "lucky punch" from Skenderovic, Fynn Lakenmacher missed a big chance for 1860 in the 67th minute. The striker missed the goal after fine preliminary work by Yannick Deichmann.
