Aschaffenburg (dpa / lby) - tires manipulated, passed off as helpers and stole cash: A 38-year-old cheated a senior citizen in Aschaffenburg out of several thousand euros. Shortly after the crime, officials arrested the man and he has been in custody since Thursday, the police said on Friday.
A 73-year-old had withdrawn several thousand euros from an ATM on Wednesday. The 38-year-old watched the man and manipulated a tire on the senior's car, causing it to lose air. Finally, he offered the man help changing the tire. He stole several thousand euros from the jacket of the 73-year-old. "It's a well-known scam that we haven't had for a few years," said a police spokesman.
