Bad Rodach (dpa / lby) - A cattle truck with 170 pigs on board overturned in Upper Franconia. In the accident on Saturday morning in Bad Rodach (Coburg district), 48 pigs were killed, the police said. The driver was not injured, but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
The driver had illegally wanted to turn right on a local connecting road and got his wheels onto the shoulder. This gave way under the weight of the truck, so that it slipped into the ditch and overturned. 41 pigs died on site. Another seven animals were slaughtered, the police said.
