Bavaria: Abuse in children's homes: 25 victims reported

Munich (dpa / lby) - In the first six weeks, 25 victims reported to the contact point for victims of abuse in Munich children's homes. As the social department announced on Thursday, the first emergency aid would be paid out in September.

In May, the city of Munich declared that it would provide 800,000 euros in emergency aid for former children in institutions who had become victims of violence and abuse. The city had set up a special commission to deal with violence and abuse in municipal residential institutions as well as in adoptive and foster families. The new contact point for those affected began work in July.

Ignaz Raab, chairman of the commission, said: "It was very important to us that the contact point was started quickly with a view to those affected, so that we can address the questions of those affected as quickly as possible and offer the necessary help."
