Bavaria: Abuse proceedings against diocese employees stopped

Würzburg (dpa / lby) - The public prosecutor's office has stopped proceedings against an employee of the Diocese of Würzburg who had been accused of sexually abusing a child. There is no criminal sexual act, as the authority announced on Wednesday in Würzburg. The incident described did not exceed the so-called materiality threshold.

In August 2010, the accused is said to have visited a girl who was born in 1997 in the tent of a boy scout camp abroad and kissed her on the cheek or mouth. The 20-year-old man had attended the camp as a volunteer youth worker for the church.

The diocese had meanwhile released the man employed in administration from work in July and reported the case to the Würzburg public prosecutor's office. It was initially unclear whether the man would be allowed to work for the diocese again.
