Rohrdorf (dpa / lby) - In the middle of holiday traffic, there was an accident with several injuries on the A8 in Upper Bavaria. Due to the many travelers, a traffic jam had formed in front of the Rohrdorf junction (Rosenheim district) in the direction of Salzburg, the police said. A 61-year-old apparently overlooked the end of the traffic jam on Friday and drove almost unbraked into the vehicle in front of him. As a result of the impact, four cars were pushed into each other in front of the person who caused the accident. All passengers were able to free themselves.
A 53-year-old lost consciousness and was flown to the hospital by a rescue helicopter with life-threatening injuries. The ambulance drove the driver who caused the accident and his passenger to the hospital with serious injuries. All others were treated with minor injuries at the scene. The route on the A8 was blocked several times in the direction of Salzburg. The police expected traffic jams until the afternoon.
