Bavaria: After a chase: Motorcyclists turn themselves in to the police

Patersdorf/Rinchnach/Grafenau (dpa/lby) - After a motorcyclist fled from the police in Lower Bavaria, he turned himself in to the officers. The 39-year-old and four other drivers ignored the stop signals on Sunday morning, the police said. Instead, the group drove away on the federal highway 85 near Patersdorf (Regen district) at up to 220 kilometers per hour in the direction of Passau. The police are now looking for witnesses who can provide information about the driving style of the motorcycle group.

The police set up a roadblock near Rinchnach (Regen district) and were able to arrest three of the group between the ages of 23 and 54 for the time being. However, two drivers drove around the barrier and were stopped near Grafenau (Freyung-Grafenau district). One turned himself in, the other drove on after a moment's hesitation. He drove so close to a policeman that he was slightly injured in the arm.

The police searched for the last fugitive into the afternoon. The 39-year-old turned himself in to the police. A breath alcohol test revealed a value of more than one per thousand in one of the group. Two others were slightly intoxicated. The group is now being investigated, among other things, for an illegal vehicle race. The driver's licenses were secured for four of the suspects, it said.
