Bavaria: After the body was found in Coburg: the police arrested the suspect

The police in Coburg had been looking for a missing person for almost two weeks - a body was found on Monday. On the same day, the police arrested a suspect.

Coburg (dpa / lby) - After the discovery of a woman's body on Monday in Coburg, the police arrested a suspect. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the Coburg public prosecutor's office for the German Press Agency. According to the police, the man arrested on Monday evening is a 29-year-old Pole from the Coburg area. He was due to be brought before the magistrate on Tuesday. The authorities are now assuming a "possible homicide" as the cause of the woman's death.

A 28-year-old woman from Bad Rodach (Coburg district) had been missing for almost two weeks. The police searched for her for days with a helicopter, divers and sniffer dogs, among other things. A body was found in a forest near a lake in Coburg on Monday. The woman's car was seen nearby around the time of her disappearance. However, the car was later seen again in the hometown of the missing person - so the vehicle must have been moved again. It was initially unclear whether this became the decisive indicator for the arrest of the man.

According to the police and prosecutors, the forensic investigation into the exact cause of death continued on Tuesday. The identity of the woman still has to be determined with final certainty.
