Munich (dpa / lby) - In the ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY... unsolved" this Wednesday (8:15 p.m.) the criminal case of a child's corpse recovered from the Danube will be dealt with. The preschool boy was found in May by a canoeist at a barrage near Vohburg an der Donau (Pfaffenhofen district). The child's identity and cause of death are still unclear, a police spokeswoman said on Monday.
The dead boy had been packed up at the time and had been in the water for a long time - probably several months - when it was discovered. As a result, officials searched the banks of the Danube in the Ingolstadt area and the river itself, but without finding any indication of the perpetrator.
In November, forensic doctors then reconstructed the face of the unknown boy and were able to find out more details: The child was between three and seven years old, 110 centimeters tall, weighed around 15 kilos and had blue eyes and dark blond to brown hair.
The police had also published details of the stone with which the child's corpse was sunk in the Danube. It is a 40 by 20 by 6 centimeter paving stone that is sold under the name Diephaus, type "Natura Vigo".
The investigative group of the Ingolstadt police hopes to achieve a breakthrough through the publication on television. An Ingolstadt investigator will present the case in the studio. A reward of 10,000 euros has been offered for information from witnesses that leads to clarification of the case.
