Bavaria: Another section of "Erdinger Ringschluss" is being built

Munich (dpa / lby) - In the next three years, another section is to be built to improve the rail connection to Munich Airport. Work on the route between the airport and Schwaigerloh officially started on Monday.

The approximately four-kilometer route should be completed by the end of 2025 and cost around 100 million euros, said Deutsche Bahn (DB). However, the completion date is dependent on the building material being available. The federal government, Bavaria and the railways share the costs.

The project is part of the so-called Erdinger Ringschluss, which is intended to provide the airport with a direct connection to the train stations in Freising and Erding. This should enable better rail connections, for example to Landshut and Regensburg and in the direction of Salzburg. The ring closure is realized in several stages.
