Nuremberg (dpa/lby) - The music fans can hardly wait after the long Corona break: One day before the start of the "Rock im Park" music festival, many of them arrived early in the morning. "They have been at the door for a while," said a spokeswoman for organizer Argo Konzerte on Thursday. When the campsites opened at 9:00 a.m., people immediately started pitching their tents.
In the past two years, the open-air festival had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic. In previous years, around 70,000 fans always came. Together with the sister festival "Rock am Ring" at the Nürburgring in the Eifel, "Rock im Park" is one of the first major festivals to be held again after the outbreak of the corona virus.
Around 70 bands will perform on three stages from Friday to Sunday. Headliners are Green Day, Muse and Volbeat. In the run-up, there had been criticism of the low proportion of women on the stages of the twin spectacle, including from comedian Carolin Kebekus and Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth (Greens).
