Bavaria: At Bavaria's universities more and more students from abroad

Fürth (dpa / lby) - More and more people with an international background are studying at Bavaria's universities. According to figures from the State Office for Statistics, 55,291 people from abroad with a foreign university entrance qualification were enrolled in the 2021/22 winter semester - this number has more than doubled in the past ten years.

In the winter semester 21/22, 73,187 of the 404,090 students had an international background, as the state office in Fürth announced on Wednesday. In addition to people with foreign school qualifications, there were foreigners with a German higher education entrance qualification and Germans with an entrance qualification for studying abroad.

Subjects from the MINT area - i.e. mathematics as well as natural and engineering sciences - are particularly popular with students from abroad.
