Bavaria: "Banging noises" in Erlangen's apartment lead to SEK deployment

Erlangen (dpa/lby) - Indefinable "banging noises" and hours of unsuccessful negotiations with a man have led to the deployment of a special task force (SEK), according to the police in Erlangen. Accordingly, the officials were first alerted on Saturday afternoon because of loud noises in the apartment of an apartment building. When a negotiation group called the 34-year-old resident, he refused to leave the apartment.

After the talks were unsuccessful, SEK members finally opened the apartment door after about four hours in the evening and arrested the 34-year-old without resistance. According to the police, he suffered minor injuries and was examined by a doctor. The reasons for his behavior are still "largely unclear". Because of his mental state, the man will initially be accommodated in a specialist clinic. No firearms were found in the apartment.
