Bavaria: Bavaria continues funding package for freelance artists 2023

Munich (dpa / lby) - The Free State will continue its support program for freelance artists next year. The "Free Art Restart Package" launched this year is intended to support the scene in 2023 as a "Free Art Funding Package", as the German Press Agency learned from the Ministry of Culture on Sunday. "Our signal is clear: we will not leave the free art scene alone," said Minister of Art Markus Blume (CSU).

With the three million euro "restart package", existing funding programs should be expanded and new project funding made possible. The money flowed into visual arts, contemporary dance, independent performing arts, reading series, literary festivals and concerts, among other things.

The "funding package" planned for 2023 should also support artists of all disciplines, said Blume. In addition, there should be help with a view to the high energy prices. "We want to compensate as far as possible for the additional costs for cultural institutions caused by energy prices through the interaction of the federal hardship aid and the Free State's hardship fund," explained Blume. "The motto is: save, but don't waste it. The culture must not run out of energy."
