Bavaria: Bavaria will abolish the corona isolation requirement on November 16th

Bavaria is advancing together with three other countries and abolishing the corona isolation requirement. But there remains a rule as a substitute.

Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria abolishes the minimum five-day isolation requirement for corona infected people - from November 16th. Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) announced this on Friday in Munich. However, those who test positive should have to wear a mask outside their own home. "And of course the principle still applies: if you're sick, stay at home," said Holetschek. Vulnerable groups should be further protected by other measures. "The decision does not mean that we are giving free rein to the infection process," emphasized the minister.

Bavaria acts together with Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and Schleswig-Holstein. In these three countries, too, new regulations are to come into force "soon". The details are currently being worked out, according to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Health.

"Unfortunately, the federal government has so far refused to find a common solution to the isolation issue," said Holetschek. "That's why we are now taking this important step towards dealing with Corona responsibly in view of the changed pandemic situation." It is the right time for people to take more personal responsibility. The basis of this decision - also in accordance with the three other federal states - is a scientific evaluation by the State Office for Health and Food Safety and many experts.

So far, people infected with corona have generally had to go into domestic isolation for at least five days after a positive test result - and until they are symptom-free for at least 48 hours, up to a maximum of 10 days in total.
