Bavaria: Bavarian Red Cross increases collective wages significantly

Munich (dpa/lby) - The Bavarian Red Cross will increase the wages and salaries of its around 30,000 full-time employees by six percent from December. The collective agreement has a term of 13 months, announced the BRK and the Verdi union on Wednesday in Munich. There had already been a wage increase of two percent in April. This table increase of a total of eight percent in one calendar year will compensate for inflation, said Verdi department head Robert Hinke. For a paramedic, that means a gross 2,360 euros more annual wages. In addition, the employees would receive a one-off payment of 600 euros this year.

Normally, the collective agreements for the approximately 30,000 full-time employees would only be negotiated when a current collective agreement expired, the BRK announced. But in view of the current situation, the negotiations did not take place after the end of the year this time, but much earlier. "We are thus offering our employees planning security and an outlook for the coming year earlier than ever before," commented BRK state manager and negotiator Leonhard Stärk. "Especially in times when many developments are not foreseeable, we offer predictability, security and a noticeable and sustainable relief."
