Bavaria: Blume: Enzensberger wrote literary history

Munich (dpa/lby) - The Bavarian Minister of Art Markus Blume (CSU) recognized Hans Magnus Enzensberger, who died on Thursday, as one of the most important intellectuals and political thinkers in Germany. This was a bright, lively, restless, independent spirit. Enzensberger wrote literary history, Blume said on Friday.

With his well-reflected essays and statements, Enzensberger accompanied and commented on political and literary debates in the Federal Republic for more than 60 years. Blume wrote that his honest view of people, society and the world will be missed.

Enzensberger died on Thursday at the age of 93 in Munich, as the Suhrkamp publishing house in Berlin announced on Friday, citing the family. The writer was born in Kaufbeuren in Allgäu in 1929 and grew up in Nuremberg and Nördlingen.
