Bavaria: Building materials manufacturer Knauf is the target of a cyber attack

Iphofen (dpa / lby) - The building materials manufacturer Knauf has become the target of a cyber attack. This was announced by the company based in Iphofen (Kitzingen district) on Thursday. The "Main-Post" had previously reported on it.

On Wednesday night, previously unknown perpetrators attacked the group's IT infrastructure, it said: "The attack was recognized immediately and professionally isolated as a result." Parts of the systems have been temporarily shut down for security reasons and for further IT forensic investigations. This affects the supply chains of the group. The company did not provide any further information.

Knauf was in the spotlight in mid-May because the company's shut-down plasterboard factory was bombed in eastern Ukraine. Knauf shut down the plant shortly after the Russian invasion.

The Knauf Group produces building materials and building systems with around 40,000 employees. Last year, it generated annual sales of 12.5 billion euros. According to the company, it operates in 90 countries around the world.

In May, a hacker attack was carried out on the Allgäu agricultural machinery manufacturer Fendt, which belongs to the US company AGCO, which led to production downtime. AGCO announced on May 6th that it had discovered a hacker attack with blackmail software.
