Roggenburg (dpa / lby) - Six farmers helped the fire brigade extinguish a field in Swabia. The fire was noticed on Friday by a farmer in his wheat field near Roggenburg (Neu-Ulm district), the police said on Saturday.
The flames quickly spread over two hectares and penetrated to within a few meters of some adjacent residential buildings. Their residents had to leave their homes. The fire could only be extinguished with the support of the six farmers. These brought large amounts of water in liquid manure barrels and plowed the field. No one was injured, and there was no damage as the field had already been harvested. According to the police, arson is ruled out.
