Ebersberg (dpa / lby) - A 78-year-old driver was seriously injured in Upper Bavaria when her car collided with a tanker truck. The woman got into the oncoming lane on Tuesday afternoon on the federal highway 304 between Steinhöring and Ebersberg, the police said in the evening. The oncoming 44-year-old truck driver tried to avoid the elderly woman's car, but was unable to prevent the collision.
The tanker truck drove over a green strip and then stopped next to the accident site. The driver was not injured. The 78-year-old was trapped in her car and had to be freed by the fire department. A rescue helicopter took her to a hospital. The accident in the Ebersberg district resulted in estimated property damage of 100,000 euros, it said. The B304 was blocked for more than two hours.
