Schweinfurt (dpa / lby) - A man was slightly injured in a fire in Lower Franconia. The fire broke out on Thursday for reasons that are currently unclear in the basement of an apartment building in Schweinfurt, according to the police and the city. When firefighters arrived, flames were already shooting out of the basement windows.
According to the information, the approximately 20 residents had saved themselves on their balconies and were brought outside by the emergency services using portable ladders. A man was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.
Due to the heavy smoke development and a burst water main, the house is currently uninhabitable. The police are now investigating the cause of the fire. The amount of damage is unclear.
