Bavaria: Climate activist in police custody continues on hunger strike

Munich (dpa/lby) - A climate activist who was in police custody after a blockade in Munich continued his hunger strike on Friday. "He is offered food and is being monitored medically," said a Munich police spokesman on Friday. "Otherwise we have not received any information from the prison that the situation has changed."

According to the police, the activist began his hunger strike on Tuesday. He belongs to a group of 33 people who were taken into police custody after blockade actions. 13 of them are to be held in the Stadelheim prison until December 2nd. Other participants have already been dismissed.

Those affected are accommodated - if possible separately from the prisoners. The controversial measure is intended to prevent the commission or continuation of an administrative offense "of considerable importance to the general public" or a criminal offence.
